Karin Shoji, the woman who owns Mika Make-up Studio, was on Urban Rush along with Elizabeth doing a quick tutorial for liquid liner and a smokey eye. She manages to teach the host how to apply the liner ;-) Check it out…

Hey, nice site, do you have any ideas on the best method to apply eyeliner? Thanks

Hi, thanks for dropping by :-)

It depends how dramatic you want to go, and what type of liner you want to use. If you’re new to eyeliner then I would suggest going with pencils as they are the easiest to control, or gel liners if you have a steady hand :-) Most people find liquid liners much more difficult to apply so I’d avoid those til a later date!

With the pencil liner (maybe try the oil based ones as they glide on smoother than the khol, even with the cheaper ones), dot along the lashline first, then connect the dots with gentle feathering motions to create one straight, even line. Hold the skin a little taut. Thicken the line at the outer corner. Set with a powder to prevent it from smudging.
If you want subtle definition then don’t go with black, use a brown or grey. Try to start with a thin line and thicken as desired. It’s much easier to add more than it is to take away :-)

Gel and liquid will take more practice than the pencils, so work your way up once you’re comfortable with what you’re doing!

Also, check out vids on Youtube from the likes of Gossmakeupartist and Kimgreenemakeup.

    Hope this helps :-)
